There fore instead of defining Maha Lakshmi and limiting her to a form of money, we can worship her as the mother, who gives prosperity. Prosperity refers to understanding what you have and equaling yourself to what you have, without excess of greed or desire.
Mother Lakshmi, consort of Lord Vishnu, is the mother of the entire world, the Goddess who is supposed to be sitting on a serpent floating on the Milk Sea [Thirupparkadal]. Though the mother is sitting on a serpent which symbolizes nothing but the problems which we are facing in our lives. She remains undisturbed. So anyone, who prays to the mother, remains calm, though he may sink in the Sea of family problem.
