[ The essence of knowledge]
[ The essence of knowledge]
Every people throughout the world know about Bhagavad-Gita. The Bhagavad-Gita or Gita as it is popularly known is a portion of the Mahabharata. It is the song of the supreme God and is considered as a sacred text of Hindu religion. Gita is said to be the most beautiful philosophical song in any language.
In the course of battle at kurukshetra, Arjuna the pandava king is faced with a moral problem He finds it difficult and immoral to kill his own relatives like Duryodhana
in the battle for the sake of an empire. Shri Krishna, who is charioteer, dispels his doubts by a long and learned discourse on duties of man and immortality of the soul. He said that everyone will talk of you as the warrior who was great but who ran away from the battle field you will be laughed at as a great archer with a coward’s heart.
Gita discusses several ways of self realization. It is the most commented work and is the source of conflicting schools of thought. Anasakti-yoga or doing ones duty without any desire for reward is considered to be the essence of teachings of Shri Krishna. A man is concerned with his duty and not with its reward. Man must not shirk from his duty. At the same time he must gain knowledge and do his duty in selfless way. Bhagavad Gita says “Knowledge and duty together bring success and prosperity.”
“Giving up all actions, seek me as your sole refuge,
I will liberate you from all sins; do not grieve.”
[Lord Krishna]
